HBPI’s 5 Rules to Success

Rule 1 - Choose a solid company

How do you choose the right company?  Use these guidelines:

  1. First and foremost, the company’s products must make sense to you.  Something you believe consumers want and need.  Ask yourself, is this product or service something I can get passionate about?
  2. How long has the company been in business?  Be careful if it’s less than a year.
  3. Does the company have an address and contact info?  If it doesn’t, that is a strong indication there may be poor support.
  4. Who are the founders?  Do they have a reputable track record?  Check the BBB and the internet, but keep in mind, what you read about people are just opinions.  If you dig enough though, you’ll have a gut instinct “feel” on if these are people you want to work with.
  5. How does the compensation plan work?  Is it in the favor of you or your sponsor or your company?  Is it a solid long-term plan?
  6. What kind of support does the company have?  What systems do they provide?  Look for companies that you systems, tools and services in place to help you, especially when you get started.

Rule 2 - Choose the right sponsor

Simply stated, if you are new to direct sales, network marketing and mlm, choosing the right sponsor could make all the difference in your success.  Follow these guidelines:

  1. Does the sponsor have information on themselves on their sales page?  Do they provide a phone number?  You’ll want to choose someone who puts themselves “out there”.  A good sponsor does not hide, they makes themselves available.
  2. Don’t fall for the ‘income claims”.  Our experience is that most people lie anyway.  Instead look for someone who is genuinely concerned in helping versus trying to impress you with numbers.
  3. Does your prospective sponsor provide any additional tools and services… especially marketing/advertising?  This is an indication they have and will go the extra mile in assisting you.

Rule 3 - Create your own Marketing Plan

Don’t let this overwhelm you.  Certainly there is a learning curve if you are a beginner.  And even if you’re experienced, you’ve got to keep up with the new techniques.  The lifeblood of your business and your overall success depends on you being able to get interested visitors to your business opportunity web page.  The key elements to an effective campaign are:

  1. Create a personalized or branded lead capture page.  It’s very important to understand the psychology of consumers.  The prospect is not just looking for the right opportunity; they’re looking for the right leader.  People want to know that they’re working with someone who’s already on the path they want to be on.  Put yourself out there… and remember you’re the product maybe even more so than the company you represent.
  2. Create an effective autoresponder campaign.  This is a series of emails that automatically go out to your prospect once they’ve opted in to your lead capture page.  Good ad copy is the key here.
  3. Choose 1-3 advertising/marketing disciplines to learn.  There are several different types of advertising to choose from:  pay-per-click, banner and text link advertising, article submission and press release marketing, blogging, social networks (MySpace, UTube), email broadcasting, print media, etc…  Educate yourself on a few of these and don’t get overwhelmed by thinking you have to learn all of them.  There are many guides and tutorials on the internet, but be careful not to get sucked into a lot of hype and promises.

Rule 4 – Immediately follow up on your prospects.  Folks, if you don’t get this, find something else to do.

Rule 5 – Take Responsibility

You and only you are responsible for your success.  Whether you win or fail in a business opportunity solely depends upon your willingness to accept personal responsibility for what happens.  It’s your choice, either you’re going to choose to win or not.  Nothing else matters, not the company, not your sponsor, not your autoresponders, notta, notta, notta.  Success is a mindset, get yours right from the beginning so you don’t waste your time.
